About Lorland

Lorland, as it is known today, sits on 200 acres nestled on the border of Missouri and Arkansas which includes beautiful landscape and gorgeous views. Our family came in to ownership of this property a few years ago, and the blessings that have unfolded from within it have been overflowing! We wanted to share this place with others so they could experience the joy too.

The name “Lorland” is a combination of the last names of the family that were the original homesteaders of the land. “Taylor” was the last name of the family to originally own the property, and as time went on, one of the Taylor girls grew up, fell in love, and took her husband’s name: “Kirkland.” They took ownership of the land and cared for it together. By combining the two last names of the original homesteaders, the property was renamed Lorland, a name locals have begun to know and love. The descendants of the original families are still our close friends and neighbors today! So it is our mission to care for this beautiful property, share it with others, and to never allow its history to be forgotten.

As you can tell, we love our history and want to preserve and honor it - a conviction we’ve had since the beginning! The farmhouse, homesteaded over 100 years ago, was what we first sought to restore. Now it’s fully renovated with modern amenities and we began using it to accommodate our large family for gatherings! After a while we thought… why not share this with others? So we did!

Sharing the farmhouse has been such a satisfying and humbling adventure, we wanted to do more with the land that blessed our family and other families so much. As our family is large and continues to grow, we know too well how difficult it can be to find a venue to accommodate our growing numbers. So in our growing mission to serve our community, we turned one of the working barns on the property into an event venue location, something hard to come by around here! We took to renovating the barn and used wood from old local barns in Missouri and Arkansas - barns that our own family, friends, and neighbors owned. That support from our community made Lorland a reality! So when you’re here, take a look around! Each piece of wood in the walls signifies the love of life, hard work of many generations, and the unification of family, friends, and neighbors in one location. Now Lorland is the place to accommodate your family event and overnight stay. No need for the memories to stop once the sun starts to go down! You’re all set in one place, making more time for rest and laughter, and less spent on travel and commuting.

As our family continues to grow, we’ll be constantly reminded to think of how we can continue to serve others for the moments that matter. So, whether it’s a wedding, birthday, family reunion, anniversary, or any other special occasion, our family would love to share those moments with you, and we’ll go above and beyond to make that day as perfect as one could imagine.
